CIM Wales Marketing Forum: technology changes, fundamentals don’t

Our Managing Director, Leticia, attended the CIM Wales Marketing Forum 2026 at Cardiff City Stadium this month, joining marketers from across Wales for a day of insight, inspiration and discussion.

With AI, automation and digital transformation high on the agenda, one message stood out throughout the day: the fundamentals still matter most.

Understanding your audience. Building meaningful human connections. Creating genuine engagement.

The opportunity isn’t to replace great marketing with technology, but to use technology to make great marketing even better.

From thought-provoking discussions around AI and innovation to inspiring sessions from speakers including Sian James from Cardiff Airport, the event offered plenty of food for thought and a fresh perspective on the opportunities ahead for marketers.

A huge thank you to CIM – The Chartered Institute of Marketing for another fantastic event and the chance to catch up with familiar faces from across the industry.

Shaping a new brand story

Some of the team headed to London as part of an exciting brand repositioning project for a major UK organisation.

As the project continues to take shape, the team have helped to deliver brand messaging workshops with key stakeholders, helping to inform the organisation’s future direction and explore how its story, purpose and positioning can evolve for the next chapter of its journey.

A teaser film for key partners is helping to build excitement and engagement ahead of the next phase of the project. For now, the details have to stay firmly behind closed doors, but it’s the kind of project that gets the team genuinely excited. Big ideas, bold ambitions and plenty of creative thinking. We can’t wait to share more when the time is right.

Agency networking in Bath 💬

Rich and Leticia recently headed to Bath for the AgencyLand Network Coffee Morning, swapping the office for a catch-up with fellow agency folk over coffee.

The event was a great opportunity to meet new faces, share agency stories and hear about some of the exciting work happening across the region. It’s always refreshing to step away from the day-to-day and connect with others who understand the fast-paced world of agency life. As an added bonus, we may have discovered a new favourite coffee spot while we were there.

A huge thank you to AgencyLand for creating such a welcoming and accessible networking event. We made some fantastic new connections and are already looking forward to continuing the conversations, and hopefully collaborating with some of them in the near future.

Inspiring the next generation

Welcoming work experience students

We were delighted to welcome two work experience students into the office for three days, giving them the opportunity to experience the variety in agency life.

During their time with us, they were introduced to the wide range of services and roles that make up SBW. From client handling and account management to design, branding, campaign development and creative strategy, they gained first-hand experience of how our teams work together to bring ideas to life for clients across a variety of sectors.

It’s always rewarding to play a small part in supporting the next generation of marketing and creative professionals, and we hope they leave with a greater understanding of the exciting career opportunities that the industry has to offer.

A huge thank you to both students for their hard work and energy. We wish them every success in the future and look forward to seeing where their talents take them next.

An evening on
the bowls green

With sporting fever sweeping through the agency this month, the team from SBW’s Bristol office swapped brainstorms for bowls and headed to the green for an evening of friendly competition, team spirit and plenty of laughter.

Set against the backdrop of one of Bristol’s beautiful green spaces, the game provided the perfect opportunity to spend time together outside the office and enjoy a little healthy competition along the way.

Here’s to more opportunities to connect, celebrate and enjoy time together as a team in the months ahead.

World cup winner! 🎉

With anticipation building across the agency this month, the office sweepstake became the topic of conversation at every coffee break, lunch catch-up and team meeting. As predictions were made, fortunes rose and fell, and the leaderboard kept everyone firmly on tenterhooks right up to the very end.

And after weeks of suspense, there could only be one winner. Following much anticipation and a final drumroll moment, the sweepstake crown goes to… Eva!

Congratulations to our lucky champion, and here’s to more opportunities to celebrate, connect and enjoy a little friendly competition together in the months ahead.

AI in action: the Craven Cooling story 🎥

This month, we launched the first in a series of case study films for Business Wales, starting with Craven Cooling and their journey of using AI to work smarter, reduce admin and free up time for the work that makes the biggest impact.

The film needed to showcase Craven Cooling’s positive experience, and inspire other Welsh businesses to explore how AI could support their own growth. It highlights the range of guidance and support, available through Business Wales for organisations looking to better understand and adopt AI.

As a family-run business based in Swansea, Craven Cooling has built its reputation on expertise, exceptional service and strong customer relationships. Their approach to AI isn’t about reinventing the wheel. It’s about using technology in a practical way to support the team, streamline processes and create more time for the work that matters most.

That’s what makes this story so relatable. Craven Cooling isn’t a tech company chasing the latest trend. It’s a growing Welsh business embracing tools that can help improve efficiency, boost productivity and support long-term growth.

As Craven Cooling’s experience demonstrates, AI isn’t about replacing people. It’s about giving them the tools to do even more.
